July 2016 - Seattle Trip - Part 1

On July 14th we packed up the VW bus and headed off to Seattle to attend the 35th Annual Cascade Kombi show.  Eric went with Benj last year, leaving early Saturday morning and coming home again late that night.  This year we decided to go a few days early to avoid the rush, and make a bit of a holiday of it.  We stayed at a fabulous Airbnb in the Lake Forest Park area of Seattle.  This was our first time staying at an airbnb, and we had a great experience.  This was our first time taking the bus on the road for such a long drive, and I was expecting to have a few hiccups along the way, but both the bus and Eric's bug drove there and back without a hitch.

On Friday morning we headed off to Pike Market and the Big Wheel.  It was absolutely nutty busy, and although I wanted to go to the original Starbucks, the line-up was so long, that I decided seeing it was good enough for me.

There were so many entertaining things to see, like this bird that did tricks.

But I think my favorite thing about the market, were the buskers everywhere.

The gum wall was of course an important stop along the way.  Super gross, but oddly fascinating!

When we were waiting for our turn on the Big Wheel we saw this fella working on a carving.

The views from the top of the wheel where breathtaking!

Once we where finished our ride and walk about the pier, we all got a henna tattoo.

Not only to they look nice, they also smell good!
